Product Description

Grinders lack the glamour of routers, say, and compound miter saws, but when it’s a grinder you need, we don’t think there are too many better choices out there than this one. "You get what you pay for" is, we think, even more true in the world of tools than elsewhere, and this is definitely a case in point.

We’ve never met a Bosch tool that lacked quality, precision engineering, ergonomics and power, and this grinder is no exception. Our favorite feature on this one is definitely the paddle switch, not just for comfort and convenience, but for the ultimate in safety and control. We’re not big fans of the lock-on button, because it negates the safety feature of the paddle switch, but we know some of you wouldn’t have it any other way.

As for user ease, it’s fabtastic. It weighs in just over 4 pounds, and the balance in hand is supreme. Up against other grinders in its class, the vibration is absolutely minimal, virtually eliminating that unpleasant arm-buzz. Another thing we like about this grinder is its ability to draw power from DC outlets, so if you’ll be grinding welds, this tool is a perfect choice.

The 4-1/2-inch wheel changes out fast, and the guard adjusts without tools. The whole tool says "quality," from the sealed switch to the ServiceMinder™ brushes that automatically shut down the tool when it’s time to change them, ensuring that this workhorse will be with you for a long, long time. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Heavy Duty Grinder for the Metal shop

I own two other 4 1/2 inch grinders besides this one. My Made in China $24 grinder that I was using with a cupped wire brush finally bit the dust. I went looking for Quality this time around and wanted to purchase Made in USA. But this Bosch won out, over a Dewalt, because it was the only one that was a "true" all ball / needle bearing construction. It has lots of power and the paddle switch saved my bacon when on a trial run using a metal cutting disk, the disk caught and shattered (I AWAYS wear safety glasses and gloves when grinding). On my other grinders with a thumb switch... that 1/2 second to find the switch & flip it off... would have been too long. Draw backs, the grinder seems to have more vibration and noise than my 8 year old, Made in Japan Ryobi, not to be confused with the new Ryobi, Made in China! Bill G.

This is a fine quality tool, it works flawlessly. I originally bought this tool to cut ceramic tile (which worked great), but I found so many other uses for it such as grinding fiberglass on my brother's boat, cut out steel window frames, and to remove glue and wood residue on concrete before screwing in a subfloor. The grinder is small enough to fit in most tight places and light enough to hold over head for long periods of time. This is one of my most heavily used power tools and it's still going strong! I have to say Bosch makes the best tools that last forever.

I purchased this Bosch grinder through Amazon.com to tuck point brick work. Received the tool in one week with free shipping. The paddle switch is a safe feature. When you release the paddle it stops. I found it to be very powerfull and it has absolutely no hesitation. Pure power!
I installed a dry diamond blade for cutting brick - cut like butter with a hot knife. Installed a 4 1/2" diamond tuck point wheel and removed a mortar joint 35" wide in seconds. Highly recommend this tool if your looking for a good grinder. Well worth the money for the safety & power it delivers.

I've been using my grinder for about 1 years now and it's outlasted a Milwaukee grinder. My bosch has been dropped about a dozen time with no damage to the case.

There are better and there are definately worse angle grinders out there. There are also some more expensive and a lot of cheaper ones.

I have owned several grinders, worn out some, some just broke. I can confidently say that this model is right where I need for most every job I have to tackle. It is well worth the money, dont wind up with a junk grinder just to save yourself $20. The more expensive ones are nice, but they dont really do anything this one wont.

From my experience, this one fits perfectly in cost vs. performance equation.
